I am the Co-Director of the Institute for the Development of Human Arts (IDHA), a growing community of mental health workers, clinicians, psychiatrists, current and prior users of mental health services, advocates, artists, and survivors of trauma and adversity, who are interested in exploring the link between personal and societal transformation.

On May 11th, we hosted a virtual community discussion about the documentary Bedlam with the goal of reclaiming our history, fostering critical dialogue, and proposing a vision for the future informed by lived experience, grounded in rights and social justice. We were honored to be joined by Azza Altiraifi, Akeem Browder, Felix Guzman, and Leah Harris, in a virtual panel conversation facilitated by Sascha DuBrul. On September 14th, we hosted an event that brought together frontline organizers with a range of perspectives on how to maintain the safety and health of our communities in ways that are free from police, rooted in survivors' experience, and designed to preserve the rights and autonomy of those in crisis. We were joined by Asantewaa Boykin, Tim Black, Stella Akua Mensah, Stefanie Lyn Kaufman-Mthimkhulu, and Neil Gong, in a conversation facilitated by Noah Gokul.
